How long does it take to switch electricity providers?
It can take up to 10 working days to switch your electricity to Electra Energy. We will take care of the switching process for you and your power will not be turned off during the switching process.
Am I locked into a long term contract?
We offer no long term contracts. If you need to leave, all you have to do is give 30 days’ notice. If 30 days’ notice is not provided, then an Early Termination Fee of $150 +GST will apply.
If you have received a joining credit, this may be added to your final bill if you leave within the first 12 months.
Do I have to do a credit check?
Yes we do require a standard credit check.

No, we are a retailer and do not generate our own electricity.
Does Electra Energy supply my area?
Electra Energy offers services to cusotmers on the Electra Network. The Electra Network extends from Paekakariki in the south to just north of Foxton and Tokomaru, an area of 1700 square kilometres.

Does it cost to change retailers?
Switching to Electra Energy is easy and free! However, your current retailer may have locked you into a contract with early termination fees so be sure to ask our Customer Care Team when you call how to deal with this issue. Remember with Electra Energy we offer no long term contracts, so if you wish to leave for any reason we simply need 30 days’ notice. If 30 days’ notice is not provided, then an Early Termination Fee of $150 +GST will apply.

The switching process can take between 10-15 working days, and your electricity will not be disconnected once you have been transferred to us.If you are moving to a new home, your power may be disconnected. Please contact us to organise a reconnection.
What happens after I switch? Do I need to do anything?
No, we will take care of the switching process for you. During this time, you will receive a welcome email with information about your plan.
